Cervical cancer can be treated with surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, or a combination of all three.Treatment choices may be a single therapy or a combination of therapies, such as:

Surgical Treatment Approach for Early Stage & Advanced Cervical Cancers – It helps remove cancerous cells completely  from the cervix. The types of surgeries done for early cervical cancer are:

Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP): In this procedure,the Gyneconcologist uses a wire loop to pass electrical current through the cervix, cutting diseased tissue.

Laser therapy:  In laser surgery, a laser beam is used as a knife to make bloodless cuts in tissue or to remove surface lesions   such as tumors. malignant cells are burnt and destroyed.

Cryotherapy: The abnormal cells are frozen using this therapy. The freezing kills the cancerous cells, which are then eliminated from the body after being metabolized.

Hysterectomy: Uterus and other surrounding tissues, including lymph nodes and upper part of the vagina, are removed surgically in this procedure.In a hysterectomy, the uterus and cervix are taken out. The majority of women with early cervical cancer have their cervix and uterus surgically removed (total hysterectomy). However, some women require a radical hysterectomy.Surgery  to remove the uterus, cervix, and a portion of the vagina are known as radical hysterectomy. Both the fallopian tubes and the ovaries can be removed during  a total or radical hysterectomy which is known as Salpingo-oophorectomy 

Reconstructive surgery – A gynaeconcologist and plastic surgeon work together to restore as much anatomy and function of the uterus as possible through reconstructive surgery. This teamwork is especially important in radical cancer surgery that includes surgical reconstruction as part of the treatment plan.

Radiation therapy Treatment – Radiation therapy uses High-powered energy to destroy cancer cells. It is done internally by placing devices filled with radioactive material around the cervix. External beam radiation is given when radiation therapy is performed externally. In pre-menopausal women, menstruation may stop due to radiation therapy and may start menopause. –

 Chemotherapy Treatment – Chemotherapy is use of drugs to destroy cervical cancer. It is generally used along with radiation to sensitize the tumour. Radiation and chemotherapy may be used before or after surgery.
